Whew it’s been another crazy week for me. A has had yet another round of a bad cough and on Tuesday I had a stomach bug.
My brain is all over the place and I miss you all so I have a few random topics to chatter about. Yeah, I’m kind of losing it
Do you ever suspect parents send their kids to daycare when they are sick? I do and it’s not fair but there’s not much I can do about it but hope the sick child is sent home before other kids get it. Kind of irresponsible if you ask me. I also keep hearing that it’s great A is being exposed to all these germs now but it doesn’t make it any easier for me.
On a brighter note, A started the next program up at school. All the kids are advanced walkers, talking and getting more independent. It’s amazing what she does every day. She knows her hat goes on her head, socks and shoes go on her feet and arms go in the coat sleeves. My little baby is getting so big.
Last weekend we noticed A’s belly was quite bloated. She started having some major blowouts so we tried eliminating certain foods like pasta from her diet. We are praying she doesn’t have a gluten issue since she’s already allergic to milk. Four days into no pasta she’s still averaging 4 outfit changes at school (sorry, Miss Amanda!!!) so now we have eliminated oatmeal and are hoping her tummy shrinks and stops producing bombs. Is it possible oatmeal is the culprit? We’ll find out in a few days. It’s so hard to figure out what works well in A’s diet. Seems her stomach can be so sensitive. We’ve been trying to make most of her meals from scratch but its not always easy to do. Do you guys have kiddos who love a certain food one day and then hate it the next or is my daughter a food diva?
One other random mommy thought: overnight diapers are worth the hype!! We’ve had less leaks then ever at night since we started using them. Seems we were hanging the sheets at least 3 times a week just on leaks alone. We’ve been using Huggies Overnights and are quite happy with them.
Lastly, I want to thank you all for the comments you’ve left me and notes you have sent me. I’ve been contemplating on putting this blog on hold due to time constraints. I have so many ideas in my head of what I want to ramble about yet I don’t have time to execute them all to the fullest degree. We’ll see how things go these next several weeks but I truly have enjoyed hearing your mommy stories and getting your wise mommy advice. I need all the help I can get.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

I love reading your blog. As a matter of fact, just the other day I went back to one of your older postings. My A has been sick and I’ve spent the last week trying to get her well and balance work. It’s not easy! I remember you talking about the same struggle. It always helps to know we are not alone in our feelings and struggles as mothers! I hope you ate feeling better! I’m at home with my sweet pea today and I think we are finally on the road to recovery. What are you giving A for milk? We will be going through that soon!
Sheri, thank you for your support! A is still on Neocate because she is still not tolerating milk. We have an appointment with her GI next week to discuss alternatives. I’ll keep you posted.
I hate to tell you this but the sickness doesn’t stop. It really is a good thing that she’s being exposed right now because once they get into school it’s horrible for the first 2 years. You and them (your kidS) will be sick all of the time. Part of me wonders if it’s partly because I had a nanny for a year or 2 and they missed out being exposed to germs. So she either gets it now or later! At least you are not alone.
Thanks, Jenny. Do you offer a support line?
It’s hard!
I love reading your blogs! And I love that picture of A! So cute!
Thank you, Mary! You’ve been awesome!
I too, love your blog but would totally understand if you take a break and know I will always stop in to see if you’ve posted.
. We have had some long nights here as well thanks to all the junk going around, I feel like I’ve aged ten years, ha! As for A’s tummy have you looked at her fiber intake? Does she have dirty diapers regularly, I know with Addylin if we don’t keep her fiber up she tends to have blow-outs till she gets back on track. We keep a lot of prunes, and pears in the house, just a thought….
It really is insane how fast they grow up, if I could hit a pause button I would right about now to take it all in, it’s like she is a totally different little girl everyday. And what I’ve came to notice is once you become a parent you do completely lose your mind and go crazy a million times a week but we eventually get it back, I think we are doing pretty great so far. Hope this new year continues to bring you smiles, laughs, and love.
Thank you so much, Larken! You have helped me out more than you know.
I think we found the culprit! I don’t think it’s pasta after all, I think it’s oatmeal. A tends to get constipated so we do give her prune juice and apples on a regular basis. I think I might consider a probiotic.
They have some good tasting probiotics out there. We often use the cottage cheese with probiotics added and a juice I think it’s called kiefer?? We find it in our natural foods section they have some good flavors, Addylin likes them a lot.
We’ll give it a try, thank you for the suggestions, Larken!
Poor A! Cruise was basically sick for the first 2 months of school with this and that becuase he was a home baby. I think he missed the most school out of everyone in his class. All my other babies went to daycare and YES, parents do send their kids to daycare even if they are “sick”. Our rule of thumb was as long as no fever and no vomiting last 24hours then they are good to go to daycare. It’s just impossible otherwise. Keep up your blogging!
Thank you, Maihoua! You always have the best advice to offer!
